Collins dictionary asks public to rescue outdated words

Telegraph.co.uk reports that the Collins dictionary has given the public the chance to save some of the English language's more obscure and antiquated words. A list of 24-threatened words has been drawn up and some celebrities have taken up the challenge of rescuing a word from oblivion. Candidates include fusby, vilipend and embrangle.

This story reminds me Call My Bluff, of a panel game I used to watch on TV when I was (much) younger. There were two teams and each member of one team had to give a definition of an obscure word. Only one definition was correct, however, and the opposing team had to guess which one. Actually, this would make a good game for the classroom. You could even use the words on the Collins threatened list.
