I got told off yesterday for calling Sarah Palin's speech 'stirring' (see comment on post), so I'll refrain from comment on McCain's effort except to say that The Houston Chronicle called it 'spirited'.
The NYT also has a fascinating graphic analysing the words that speakers have used at the two political conventions. Republican speakers have talked about reform and character far more frequently than the Democrats. And Republicans were more likely to talk about businesses and taxes, while Democrats were more likely to mention jobs or the economy.
