In Company e-lesson: Banking Crisis

Macmillan
The latest e-lesson from Macmillan's In Company website is about the banking crisis. There's a PDF worksheet, teacher's notes and links to related sites.

And while we're on the subject, here's a cartoon from The Guardian by Steve Bell which uses the idea of fat cats I explained in a previous post. The caption reads, 'The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street meets Oliver Twist.' The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street is a nickname for the Bank of England and the reference to Oliver Twist recalls the famous scene in Dickens' novel when Oliver dares to ask the master of the workhouse for more gruel with the immortal words 'Please, sir, I want some more.'
